Title: Installation Issues
Post by: bbc1 on July 14, 2015, 06:52:12 PM
Had to purchase a new computer, which has Windows 8, and reinstall Finale 2014 as well as Kontakt 5 and VDL 2.5. Was following the Read Me files but am unable to figure out the proper folders to copy/paste the Percussion Library, XML files, etc. I have attached a screen shot of the Program File folders for you to see. Is there a new format to this?

Thank you for your help.

As per the Read Me document, these files should be installed in C:\ProgramData\MakeMusic\Finale2014\. The folder ProgramData is a hidden folder. You must unhide it.

The Program Data folder replaced the All Users folder in previous versions of Windows. To unhide the folder:

Open Windows Explorer.
Click Organize / Folder and Search Options / View Tab.
Select the Show Hidden Files, Folders, and Drives option and
Click Apply/OK.

Thank you. I was able to copy/paste everything just fine.

Now, as I'm back in working, I noticed not all of the the suspended cymbals sounds for the marimbas and vibraphones placed above the staff are there (crash and short crescendo are there only) as they were previously. After I choose either and then change the rhythm to "rhythmic notation" it gives me the sound of the keyboard and not the cymbal.

Any ideas?
Thank you.

Staff Styles have been an issue in 2014. I would suggest using a specific suspended cymbal instrument and the Change Instrument Utility. This will work much better and give you more cymbal options.
