G-Man

Hi, guys!
I'm the "G-Man" that posted on the Tapspace site asking for some insight with the percussion mapping.

So everyone has a reference as to what this is about, you can read the original posts at http://www.tapspace.com/forums/index.php?topic=3999.msg21117#msg21117

Based on the response put up by Ted Boliske, it appears that this is an issue that is currently in the troubleshoot stage.
So I have a quick question...and do not read this as me trying to sound rude or sarcastic, etc...
Does the VDL 2.5/Finale 2011 template work?  Is anyone actually getting scores with the notes and correct noteheads where they should be?
I simply ask, because I'd like to know if for the meantime I need to go back to an earlier version of Finale in which the Mapping and the Staff Styles functionality was not an issue.

Any info would be much appreciated.

I think I've found a solution for this issue. Steps have been posted on the Tapspace forum. Here is the link,

I am having similar issues to the thread on Tapspace... I am able to get correct sounds and maps through the use of simple entry/expression tool, however I use the midi keyboard almost exclusively for entry and am not able to get correct mapping for cymbal parts. Midi keyboard works just fine on things like SD. Any guidance?

TBoliske

I'm still working on getting this to work with keyboard/speedy entry.

Ted, any progress on this? Is there some sort of work around for the susp. cymbal issue, or do I just need to change the notes after making a sound file before I print the parts/score?

TBoliske

Thanks for the patience in this matter. I've been on vacation for the last couple of weeks but will be getting back to work on solving the issue.

Ted,

Any ideas yet? I would really like to use the template and finale 2011, but I've not been left much option but to use 2008!

Unfortunately I'm not having much luck in resolving this issue. It appears that the layouts may have been corrupted. I'm attempting to track down the specific cause.

You should know that I'm revising the 2011b templates. Since Finale 2012 won't be issued until the fall, I've got some extra time to fix other issues as well as this one.

Ted,

Have you been able to resolve this issue with midi entry?  Did you revise the 2011b template?  If you revised the template how do I get that?  Do I have to pay for another template?

Thanks for your help,
Scott

Scott - I'm still working on updating the 2010 and 2011 templates to be compatible with VDL 2.5.5. They just had to be placed on the back burner. As soon as they are ready, TWS will make an announcement regarding delivery and any cost. I'm not involved in those areas, so I'd rather not speak before having consulted with TWS.
