Hi, Im just having trouble with my VDL playback in Sibelius. My playback is playing solo in Konktakt but not in Sibelius. I also made sure to use Kontakt 6. Below I have put screenshots of my playback configuration and the path of the soundest. Thank you!

Hi Gibson

Those two images look good.

Do you have everything in the Mixer set to (Auto)? If you're not sure, attach a screenshot of the Mixer.

I also forgot to mention that none of the test playbacks are working either.

1) i see you have your Active Devices labeled. Are you trying to put or have the patches load into specific instances?

2) In the TriggerTest files, are the instruments triggering anything, visually, when an instance of Kontakt Player is open in Sibelius?

I just have the active devices labeled at a suggestion of someone else. They said it could help prevent the channels from becoming overloaded. When I try and play, I can see the mixer is Sibelius being triggered, but no sound comes out.

Did you open Kontakt Player in Sibelius to see if the sounds are triggering there?

re multiple instances of Kontakt Player / VDL: the main idea is to have enough "slots" to account for everything in the score. Each instance can only have 16 patches loaded. Once that threshold is reached, that is when another instance is needed. Small score, few instances; large score, more instances. i would just add more instances as the score requires it. (Or swap to a Playback Configuration that has more.)

Keep in mind, if all you have is, say, 10 instruments in a score, you just need one instance of VDL. Having more instances beyond that will just use up more computer resources to have them around. Although, this is really just an issue on less-than-beefy computers.

Labeling them is not needed, since Sibelius will load patches wherever it sees fit. Once you get everything setup and running, you'll find yourself very rarely looking inside those instances.

I opened Kontakt in Sibelius by pressing the setting button on the Kontakt mixer. Although virtual drumline loaded in the player, when I click browse none of the sounds are there. However, when I load Kontakt outside of Sibelius all of the sounds are present.
