Finale 2012

Hello,

Sorry if this question has been answered elsewhere but I'm new and couldn't quite find it!

I just upgraded from Finale 2008 to 2012. Tonight, I just discovered "The Write Score" and am VERY excited about this! I'm kind of an ignorant Finale/VDL user sometimes and since last spring I have been trying to use Finale 2008 with VDL 2.5 WITHOUT a template......(didn't work too well)

My question is, while I'm waiting for the Write Score's Finale 2012 template to come out, can I buy the 2011 template and use that with Finale 2012? Will this work? I just am in desperate need of a template to connect the two programs and actually am willing to spend the money on the 2011 template before the 2012 template comes out, if it means I can finally use VDL with Finale with ease!

Jeff,

I'm glad you've found The Write Score. The Finale 2012 templates are currently under development and I hope to have them ready around the first of the year. You can use The 2011 templates with Finale 2012. I suggest that you take time to get familiar with Finale 2012 before beginning any time sensitive projects. There have been many changes to Finale since 2008. Please let us know if you have any questions as you make the move.

Thanks for getting back to me! I've spent a few days exploring Finale 2012 and I agree, it is very different. Some of the new stuff is great and some of it drives me nuts! I'll probably buy the template for 2011 for now and then maybe re-invest when the 2012 template comes out.
