I'm running OS x version 10.9 on my mac book pro. I'm using finale 2011 and VDL 2.5.5. I currently have VDL running fine on Sibelius 7. I'm just having trouble setting it up on finale.
With Finale open, check the MIDI/Audio menu. Go MIDI/Audio > Device Set Up > Manage AU Plugins > scroll through the list of active devices. Is Kontakt listed there? if it's not listed there, scroll through the inactive list. If it's not there, check HD/Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components. Is it listed there?

I have Kontak 5 selected but when I click the pencil it's not showing have attached several screen shots. I hope that might help shed some light on what I'm missing.
Thanks for the screen shots. This helps narrow down the problem a bit.
When Kontakt is open in stand alone mode, meaning not open from within Finale or Sibelius, does VDL appear in either the File or Library tabs? These are found on the left side of the window. It is strange that VDL is appearing in Kontakt from within Sibelius but not Finale.

Did you look at the thread from the Finale forums? There is an issue with Kontakt 5 and Finale 2011. This can be resolved using the latest versions of both applications.
