This process worked much better when installing Finale 27 on my laptop.
1. download and run the installer
2. make certain to select NO when asked if you wish to have Finale 26 uninstalled, the default is to UNINSTALL Finale 26
3. after installing Finale 27 and GIFF and the Aria player you will need to restart your computer
Restarting fixed the issue I was having with Finale 27 then Finale 25 not opening. For the Applications the apps should be named Finale (this is version 27), Finale 26, and Finale 27. In the Application Support folders they are named Finale (this is for version 25), Finale 26, and Finale 27.
As is usual, you will need to copy/paste the XML files and templates to their appropriate folders. I'd also suggest verify that your preferences are pointing to the locations you want to utilize. In my case I point them to both the Computer and User locations.
