If you haven't already, get with the Tapspace guys for help getting VDL loaded properly into Kontakt Player. Then give things another go.

Your Playback Configuration looks good. (Since you're on Mac, you want to use the AU version of Kontakt anyway, not the VST.) Well, the Sibelius Player sound set doesn't look right. When testing/working with the following, remove Sibelius Player and just have VDL in the configuration.
1) Can you manually trigger sounds in Kontakt Player when in stand-alone mode? If yes.... 2) Do the TriggerTest files playback as expected? 3) What's the exact version of Sibelius? |

Hello,
I believe I have followed all installation steps up to adding instruments in sibelius, but I am not hearing any sounds in playback. I have Kontakt 6 running VDL, I have opened the template and the soundset is active. The only reason I could think this may not be working is - my VST plug-ins from Kontakt are not showing in my library. I cant figure out why this is happening, and reinstallation has not fixed it. I've asked this question in the Native Instruments forum but havent received any help. I'm running on a Mac 10.14.6. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |

Hi Ryan, welcome to the forum.
Please attach a screen shot of your Playback Configuration. We'll go from there. |

I've had an ever-growing frustration with the VDL Template.
I've been using it for quite some time and I've been having consistent (and/or increasing) problems with what's in the Guide actually happening correctly in Sibelius. Examples: Cymbal Rack Combo, Ride Cymbal - the noteheads are correct, but I'm getting Sus Cym crashes. Cymbal Rack Combo again - I hit F5 on the keyboard to insert a Sus Cym Roll (written E5, Notehead 31) and instead I get a Finger Cymbal (not even in the map) Tenor Drums. MIDI input for shots on low drums are giving me notes that are nowhere close to mapped correctly. In my current project, I only have one percussion staff and something like seven instances of Kontakt running. So far there are only a half dozen patches being called up. I checked the original file that I purchased & downloaded - I never made any edits to that document. It has the same errors. Where am I falling short?? I'm getting to a point of like, PTSD or something. Lots of work to get done and I'm ever more frustrated the longer I work. |

This process worked much better when installing Finale 27 on my laptop.
1. download and run the installer 2. make certain to select NO when asked if you wish to have Finale 26 uninstalled, the default is to UNINSTALL Finale 26 3. after installing Finale 27 and GIFF and the Aria player you will need to restart your computer Restarting fixed the issue I was having with Finale 27 then Finale 25 not opening. For the Applications the apps should be named Finale (this is version 27), Finale 26, and Finale 27. In the Application Support folders they are named Finale (this is for version 25), Finale 26, and Finale 27. As is usual, you will need to copy/paste the XML files and templates to their appropriate folders. I'd also suggest verify that your preferences are pointing to the locations you want to utilize. In my case I point them to both the Computer and User locations. |

Finale 27 is now available from MakeMusic. I've purchased the upgrade, downloaded, and installed the application. Currently I'm having some issues with starting. My suggestion is to proceed with caution.
For those of you wondering, I am working on templates based on Finale 27. EDIT - I'm able to start Finale 27 after renaming some files and folders. I'll have details later after resolving an issue with Finale 25 as a result of getting Finale 27 up and running. EDiT x2 - All versions of Finale are playing nice at the moment. I'll post steps and solutions later. Or, if you can't wait there is a thread in the VDL FB group. |

There are no new templates currently available for Finale 26. I have been working on updates and fixes, but there is no timeline for completion. The current templates work as there have not been any real changes to how Finale handles percussion in several versions.

Figured it out. Started working in an old file from two years ago in Finale 25. After working for a while I opened it in 26.
Are there updated templates for 26? |
