The templates work with Kontakt 6. You will need to download the installer from Native Instruments. A search through their site/support area should provide you with a link to the download.

Kontact 5 is no longer available so at this point the templates fail to be able to do playback. Can the templates be updated or can someone provide instructions on how to update the templates to work with the newer version?

Thank you for the reply in regards to using the template specifically to get the instruments and sounds.
In regards to the format issues, every time I added an instrument, it would just make the page longer and longer no matter what page size I entered. But I didn't realize that the Sibelius template defaulted to "panorama" view so I just switched it to "page" view and I was able to get back to a normal 8.5 x 11 look. |

Hi jrwitrado, welcome to the forum!
1) i don't see anything in that image that shows an error or issue. What are you wanting me to see? 2) Yes, you need to start with the provided .sib file to access the VDL Template instrument definitions. None of the blank scores from Sibelius' defaults has said instruments in them. |

First, I'm having some issues in Sibelius Ultimate using the Sibelius 7 VDL template. Images are attached to show issues. Page setup settings changed to standard 8.5 x 11 seem to not apply to this template.
Second, Do I need to start with the template to get access to VDL sounds or can I start a new score from scratch like I normally do? |

It's a font issue. I know, duh! Call me captain obvious.
Are you using a TWS template or starting from a new file within Finale 27? New files within Finale 27 use the new SMuFL format. This confuses Finale if you were to load the Percussion Library that is included with the template package. Only option here is to start fresh with a template file. If you are working from a template file then something has altered the font choice for percussion notation. I'll need to check Finale to verify which font is the default for Finale 2014.5 - 26. If you have Finale 26 installed open a template file in FIN26 and see if the font issue is still messed up. Finale 2014.5 - 26 this path open a template file then Document > Document Options > Fonts > Notation > from Notation drop down list select Percussion Noteheads > (default is) Maestro Percussion 24. |

I recently started getting these as my note heads. Any advice on how to them back to regular style notes?

Hi Ted,
Thank you again for all of your help. I had tried everything that you mentioned before with no luck at all. However, I found out that there has to be some sort of bug in Finale v.25 when you delete templates/midi maps. As soon as I upgraded to v.27, the problem corrected itself and I was able to reinstall VDL and the templates with no problem at all, everything is working now. This may be something that can be mentioned if anyone ever has a similar issue. I hope this helps! and also thank you again for your support. |

Thanks for the video. I have a couple of questions so that I am better able to understand your problem.
It would also help to know which Mac operating system and version of Kontakt you are using. 1. You have 2 folders in the Finale Music Templates location. The folder that you open the file from, is that one you created yourself or did you copy the templates package to that location? The Music Templates folder should only have the template files stored there. The MIDI Device XML Files should be in a different location. The same is true for the Percussion Library folder. 2. In the video, after opening/creating a new file from the templates you load the VDL Percussion library. Is there a specific reason for this step? That library is already a part of the templates from The Write Score. Are you wanting to use them in a Finale file that you created that is not from the template package? 3. The video does indicate that SnareLine Manual Layout is part of the template file. Have you tried assigning the Percussion MIDI Map first then setting the layout? The Percussion MIDI Map may assigned in the Score Manager > far right column (Perc MIDI Maps). If the SnareLine Manual is not in that list then you would need to copy it back to the MIDI Device Annotation folder. That folder is found in two (2) places. They are: Macintosh HD > Library > Application Support > MakeMusic > Finale (or whatever version you're using name) > MIDI Device Annotation or Macintosh HD > Users > Library > Application Support > MakeMusic > Finale (or whatever version you're using name) > MIDI Device Annotation I always copy the XML files to both locations. Make sure you copy the VDL255 Battery.xml file. This contains all of the Battery instrument maps. The only way you could have deleted the SnareLine Manual MIDI Map was to have opened the file in a text editor and deleted just that section of code. Since you indicated that you were sent another copy of the templates that Battery.xml file should not have been altered. |
