Please attach a screen shot of your Playback Configuration.

Did you buy the S7S and VDL templates separately or in the bundle?

Good afternoon all!

About a month ago I upgraded to Sibelius Ultimate. I re-downloaded Virtual Drumline and installed everything but have had numerous playback issues since I updated. I have listed some (but certainly not all) issues below:

- Suspended cymbals playback only as a choke at random
- Incorrect cymbals instruments loading in Kontakt
- Concert bass drum dynamics not playing back
- Concert bass drum barely audible
- Certain tenor note heads wont play back
- Adding a staccato mark above one not in TenorLine changes all notes after it, even without directive text.

These are just the issues I've had since I started making note, there were others I can't quite recall. Did I install something incorrectly? I've listed my specs below. Thank you in advance for any help!!

Specs:

2018 Macbook Pro - High Sierra version 10.13.6
2.2 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB Memory

Sibelius Ultimate version 2019.5 build 1469
Kontkt Player 6
Virtual Drumline 2.5
Sib_S7S_Template_7.1a/Sib_VDL_Template_7.0a combined format

The midi maps will show up because they are available to any Finale files. The percussion layouts are only part of the template files.

Figured out the mapping issue!!!!

File
Load Library
Selected the VDL2014 library purchased from The write Score
= Success

Seems to work for all my old files now. Just needed to load the new library into the existing document and everything took. Not sure why the midi maps were showing no matter what, but the layout maps were not.

Yes. All sounds are loaded into contact.

Problem 1 still isnít fixed. I am not able to access the percussion layouts in the previous score.
Is there a way to copy the layouts from my template file to my older file?

Glad to hear that one issue has been fixed.

As for the new problem, in the Score Manager have you loaded the VDL sounds into Kontakt? That would be my first thought as to why you're not hearing any sounds.

I recently purchased your templates after updating Finale from and OLD version and have using old VDL1 templates and maps.
I am pretty sure I set everything up as per instructions, however not all note are being placed correctly. I am hearing the correct sound, just not seeing in on the correct staff.
For instance, Bass drum unisons. They show up on the bottom line of the staff, not as the slash headed note on the center line of the staff. Other notes map on the staff correctly however.
I saw in another question thread about needing to assign the layout selection in addition to the percussion midi map. I have the percussion midi map set up and VDL maps selected. However, when I open the layout selection, there are no options that reference anything about VDL255. Guessing that's where things are going wrong? bassline is selected there, but again, it doesn't say specifically VDL 255 bassline.

** Update:
I was working out of a score I had copied and pasted wind parts into. Thinking that might have thrown something off, I tried opening a clean template file. The instruments map correctly now on the correct lines of the staves, HOWEVER, I can not get any sounds on that new clean file I started.

Thanks!

I just looked more closely and it does have all the samples in it as well, the size is about 39 GBs. Are there supposed to be two Library locations?

Depends on the library, as some don't put the samples along with/next to the patch files (i.e. Garritan separates them). I couldn't remember how Sib did it.

I went to my Library folder through selecting my hard drive and saw this following path to what looks like a lot of redundancies. The highlighted Sibelius Sounds folder is what I installed last night, but the "Sibelius" and "Sibelius 7" folders both have a folder inside called "Sibelius Sounds," which both have same contents as what you can see on the screen (a Library Folder and a Sibelius 7 Sounds folder). I've had two different hard drive crashes and one new machine over the years that have been restored from data recovery, so I think that's where some of these redundancies have happened. However, that's not what I see when I go through the option+go pathway like I've screen capped before.
Sorry this has spun out of control, thanks for the patience. I got Sibelius Ultimate working on its own just fine last night, but no luck with TWS/Kontakt/VDL.

You're getting closer.

That Sibelius Sounds folder is the only thing (I can remember) that I've done out of the norm. Should I delete it as I'm downloading the more current sound package? I'm obviously not going to put the newest Sibelius Sounds anywhere but their default path.

What's the size of the folder? I believe you said it only had the patch files in it? Or did it have all the samples too? Otherwise, yes, I'd remove it and go with the defaults on the new installer.

Sounds like you have a plan.
