Mike,

Make sure that you have assigned both the Percussion MIDI Maps and the Layout Maps for the non-pitched percussion instruments.

for the keyboard instruments, remember that when setting up the instruments from the Finale instrument lists that any transposing instruments such as xylophone or glock will need to changed when using the VDL instruments which do not need to be transposed.

Please see the screen shot. I haven't written since last fall, but I always begin by working in a score from last year. Everything worked then. Nothing has changed with my machine that I'm aware of. Same version of Finale and VDL.

Just following up here since I've also responded through the Tapspace FB page. When adding libraries to a Finale file you should import the file rather than load. Know though that doing so creates duplicates of the default Finale text expressions.

The better option is copy/paste.

Hello, right now I am using Finale 26. I am writing parts for a halftime show. the issue I am having is it inputs the correct notes and sounds in the regular template. But when I m on a score which I import XML's because someone else is writing the horn parts it will not allow me to load the VDL library. I'm using VDL 2.5.5. The pitched instruments play but the battery will not play in kontakt it doesn't even register. I have switched the percussion midi maps many times. I also have tried to load the library and it will say "Finale Cannot read the text"which it will not load. The percussion midi maps will not register for me. All of the files are in the right place.

To update previous versions of VDL to the most current, you will need to contact Tapspace.

Remi,

Review the Read Me documentation that is included with your template purchase. There are several xml files that need to be copied to the MIDI Device Annotation folder. This needs to be done when Finale is upgraded because each new upgrade is a new installation of the software, rather than just updating an already existing version.

Update:

I've had a chance to review a file from Tapspace Support and it appears as though, either the layout maps have been altered or you are using an older version of the templates. You mention VDL 2.5, have you updated to 2.5.5 or are you still using an earlier version of VDL as well?

It was a musx. I created an xml and it just made it worse. I need to keep my template to write but when I open the xml my template is not there.

Finale upgrades require that the XML files be copied from the previous version. If you've done this, then make sure that you are assigning both the percussion midi maps and layouts have been correctly selected.

Let me know if this helps or if you have any other questions or problems.
